embracing the queer that I am...

Queer As Folk...I dare say the best TV series I've ever seen and perhaps closest to my heart. American series like Sex In the City, Dawson's Creek, Gossip Girl, and others alike may come and go. Great as they maybe but still, my number one would only be Queer as Folk...

Queer meaning going the odd way from the usual or normal stuff... Different, yet normal and practically still the usual. Your normal "straight" folks in your neiborhood and in the society, is just like the queers and vice versa.

An eye opener, an activist, fun, hardcore, lovable, provocative, and most definitely, non-apologetic. That's how I define this show. More than just entertaining and touching, it triggered some very serious social issues involving homophobic hate crimes and health related issues. It's sensitive enough to touch every single thing about these gender related issues. From the stereotypes to the misconceptions; from the prejudiced to the well reserved; from the LOVE non-believer to the long term relationships; from holding back to coming OUT... There's just so much similarities, it's just that we only see the differences.

I just can't express enough how much I adore Queer as Folk. I watched all 5 seasons and I've learned so much from it. Trust me, this one was made not only for the queens and fags as you call 'em. First and foremost, as I've said, it's an eye opener for all to see.

Talkin Queer?

Heatherette is simply one of my fave designers out there. Outrageous, fun, quirky. I believe a lot of people around the world love this guys. Oh by the way, I have to say that this one's not for the homophobes...
Richie Rich and Traver Rains...
Honestly, Richie Rich's name intrigued me when I heared of his name. Eventually I figured out why his name is such. Just look at him closely if you still don't get me.
I first saw this guys in ANTM cycle 3 where they had the girls dressed in their fashion show. If I'm not mistaken the title of the runway show was Panic of the Circus. They just love the over the top designs and that's what Heatherette made of. These guys really had fun guesting in fashion reality shows like ANTM, Make Me A Supermodel, and Project Runway. Each guesting were very remarkable to me. In Make Me a Supermodel, again they dressed the contestants with their signiture looks. The Jay guy reminded me of the bald dude in the 300 movie. Then in Project Runway, they served as guest judges for the lady wrestlers' costume challenge. That was hilarious though Michael Kors is the one who really enjoyed himself watching the girls...
Heatherette, I salute you guys. Just keep the party goin guys! Ciao!

what a QUEER means to me...

The first time that I learned bout this word was when I was in high school. There was this story bout a peculiar chicken that a whole barrio can't decide whether the chicken is a male or a female. Then the term queer was used for the poor creature. I've found a deeper meaning for this word when a friend of mine introduced to me the TV series Queer as Folk. Am sure all of you homos out there know bout this one. Since it's 99.9% impossible to be seen in the Philippine television,I made my way to see the whole 5 series of QAF. From the first time that I watched it, I was totally in love with it and just can't get enough of it. Perhaps it's because I can relate myself with the story. It's kindda sad now that the series is over...

When I started to get hooked with this show, I wasn't out yet to my parents. Perhaps, one of the factors that made me reveal it to them was this series. And I was like, what if my mom is just like Debbie, Michael's mom or Justin's mom Jennifer. Hehe!

Now these are things that I like in the show. I love Michael and Justin's character because I can see myself in them the most. I like Emmett because of his fun loving personality. I admire the dykes' (Linday and Melanie) relationship despite of the rocky road that they had. And I love the weird ways that Brian do to help out his friends despite of the hard and promiscuous exterior of his personality...
