QAF has always been quite a big part of who I am right now ever since I watched it. A lot of people out there may not agree with it's content but probably its just the tip of the ice berg they are seeing. I dare say that it is a very intelligent drama series, depicting a life style in its truest sense. The title itself explains what it is all about. Us queers are just like the other "folks" you see around in the community we live in. It's just that we chose to be "different" because we got the guts to somehow flaunt it in our own ways.

Mixed emotions for me -- happy, bored, puked, excited, amazed, bored again, sad, then finally happy again...

HAPPY -- Yey! ANTM13 Finale day! Even though I knew early on who will win this Cycle, I'm very glad that at least the final two deserves the spot... Yada yada yada... Yeah, I was happy...

BORED -- Oh hey look at the two of 'em. I gotta say not much of drama this last episode. Laura and Nicole spitting criticism towards each other cannot even be considered "drama" because obviously they can get along pretty well. If Erin was there, now that's drama...

Am not crazy about either the CG commercial or CG photo shoot. Nope... Given the fact that Laura is the CG material among the two, I didn't quite understand what she said [very charming though]. She doesn't even look like her! Nicole on the other hand gave a stunning photo but a not so so commercial [as expected].

PUKED -- Ugh! I can't even type her name... Ok fine... I almost puked seeing Ann Shocket for the NTH time this season. What am I gonna do if she'll pop up my door and hug me like that...ewwww!!! For the record, the only Seventeen Magazine cover from ANTM that I really like is Caridee's [I have my own copy of that...haha]... Good job Shocket! at least you're consistent on making me feel sick... The only good thing that happened in the shoot was that they got Gilles Bensimon to photograph the girls [did he puked too? such a mystery no?]

EXCITED -- Finally the final runway. Bringing back the last 4 eliminated girls was definitely a first. Though I barely recognize 'em on the runway itself [geez the amputee girl and the daughter of Eddie Murphy are more recognizable than they are]. I love the theme of the "stump to the death" and less the craziness from Miss Jay and Tyra during the whole fashion show. Good thing they sushed...

AMAZED -- Oh wow, Laura was such a revelation on that runway! She felt it all throughout the show. Nicole did a pretty good job herself despite the awkward signature walk that she did. Best part of the show was the wind part... in screen caps it looked like they're on fire...

BORED again -- Oh WOW! That was the most boring and exhausting final judging in the history of ANTM. They critiqued almost every single photo [well minus the one on the horse, go figure] and a little to less on the fashion show... They talked bout it for like...seconds?

SAD -- because there can only be one ANTM, one has to go. Unfortunately for her, it was Laura. I have always adored her for being such a genuine person despite being in a "reality" show. I felt for her when she started to cry after hearing Nicole's name called out as the winner... Poor thing.

HAPPY again -- at least it ended well! Nicole won the title from the very beginning. Not the "first petite ANTM" though. Eva the diva deserves that recognition. I love the winner's photo shoot with mother hen Tyra. That was stunning! Way better than Teyona's photo in a pink diaper..UGH! Kudos to Miss Tyra for looking so gorgeous on that photo. Fierce!

This week is this season's infamous Beauty Shot week. Tyra made it more "special" by shooting it herself [talk about budget shortage]. Anyway, I entitled this post the "I don't Like FO's Picture Project" because definitely feel that Allison has been robbed like lots and lots of times last season. Who the hell cares about your eyes, FO? And I still really don't get the styling on you on that photo shoot...

ANTM C13 E4-- Midgets or Giants?

Well, well, well... Waddayanaw?The kids finally grew up! From a serious let down last week, I dare say that ANTM C13 came back with vengeance. To be honest I was a little worried for these girls when I watched the preview for this week. Imagine walking with the "normal" height models which are 5'10 up, with you having a height of 5'7 below. Trust me, I know the feeling... And so this has been the challenge of the week [runway...duh?!] and somehow they pulled it off.

Batang BATIBOT Ako!

Shame on those who didn't get to watch this 100% Pinoy children's show for you don't know what you just missed out. Batibot, the Pinoy version of Sesame Street, is definitely one of the most awarded children's TV show back in the days, both locally and internationally. My mom even got the chance to work as a script writer of the show [way the go mom!] and mingled with the cast members, crew and staff. My brother also recalls being in the studio having fun with the puppets especially Pong Pagong and Kiko Matsing.

But despite those numerous awards and priceless lessons that it provides then kids ages 12 and below, the show ended June 30, 2002 due to its decline in TV ratings. The said decline is also due to the growing popularity of other cartoon channels like Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon.

To those who were lucky enough to have shared some part of their youth with Batibot [which literally means small but strong and robust], the experience and the timeless stories and lessons will always be cherished and treasured. If only our modern day kiddie shows would be this brilliant and not just a mere copy or simply a second grade show relying on their computer generated effects. The spirit of the show was simply incomparable with those of today...

At first I was sort of unsure if I would want to post something about the Season Premiere of ANTM. I mean, come on. It almost sounded like a joke. So here it is anyway...

Project Runway All Star ROCKS!!!

Before this season's premiere of Project Runway, an All Star cast was gathered 'round yet for another round of the experience [only for a challenge though]. Consisting of 8 ex-PR hopefuls, mostly runner-ups, Santino Rice [PR02], Daniel Vosovic [PR02], Mychael Knight [PR03], Uli Herzner [PR03], Jeffrey Sebelia [PR03 winner], Sweet P Vaughn [PR04], Chris March [PR04], and Korto Momolu [PR05] were back and up for the challenge and the chance to win 100K dollars...

The challenge was insane but nevertheless, they all made it work. Three looks each plus a look with Project Runway trademark... The winning red carpet look will be worn [hopefully] by no other than Nicole Kidman herself. The amount of work was just crazy, not to mention the twists and turns they threw here and there. Clash of personalities will always be there. Sweet P. and Uli had this rivalry over the fabrics and models; Santino was his usual self as the loudest one; Chris March had Zs flying all over as he took his time napping a little too long; and lots more. It's actually amazing how they squeezed it in some 1 and a half hours all this madness.

In the end, only one can be clearly proclaimed victorious. Daniel Vosovic won it all by showcasing his fully evolved style in his collection.

ME gosh! It has been more than a month since my last post so let me just get my stretching going on...

WOW! July was quite a month as many things happened both in local and in the international scene... As much as I wanted to give it a summary and stuff, it'll be just too late in blogging world so I won't get into it...except maybe for one great event, which was the passing away of our former President Corazon Aquino.

Summarized in a phrase, the whole ordeal can be put into simply "Cory magic". Needless to say, this was another chapter of our country's history. Hate to dish in the dirt but I just can't hold it back... Every chismis tabloid, talk shows, showbiz websites probably had this guy's name both because of his "generous" acts [suspicious is more appropriate] and his 'glitches'...

Who else but Mr. Revillame. What's the latest about him, let's see... Oh, right, he's on an indefinite leave. Apparently, at the height of national mourning, Mr. Revillame doesn't want to be disturbed on his job which involves making his followers 'happy' and a dancing chick. We all know what he said [as I've said, it's all over the news], and just sounds very selfish. It's all about him in the end, and to quote what he said "nagpapakatotoo lang ako". What irritated me the most was when his audience were all cheering up for him as if he's the hero all along. I don't know bout you guys but if I were one of those people, I would have walked out. It was nothing but disrespectful and disgraceful.

I just wonder why of all the controversies thrown his way and on his show, they still go on as if nothing happened at all. The Ultra Stampede went and passed and for years, was anything done? Their game segment with the infamous 'glitch' scene went and passed, guess what, their show still goes on. His wife left him...gee I wonder why... And now these. UGH! It's Willie's "magic" all along. And what, after a few weeks he'll be back? Or perhaps a teary eyed Willie giving a statement tomorrow or the other day? Puh-leeze!

Imagine...a show named after one particular host...guess what, he not there, AGAIN... Where is he? Maybe cruising in his yacht...whatever... ABS should do him good. According to a very reliable source [the net..hehe] he said "Kung may pagkakasala ako at kailangan niyo akong ipakulong, e di magpapakulong ako". I'm not surprised. It appears to me that he's not even a single bit afraid of getting into jail. Why fear the bars, if you have the money to avoid 'em. Seriously, if he doesn't have that power, we could have seen him behind the bars way long before. Really, I pity his ex-wife.

Now, it's only a matter of time on what actions will be done to him by ABS and by authorities. I believe a lot of Filipinos around the world, whom are greatly affected if not more than the Aquino family, on what Mr. Revillame had said. Overwhelming rush of petitions were made by these people in the hope to see him reprimanded on his act. Fingers crossed!

Politics + Pacquiao = CIRCUS

Let me just put my two cents in this topic as it is SUPER duper infuriating! Like UGH!!!

More or less, it is confirmed that the "People's Champ" [sarcastically saying], Manny Pacquiao would be running as a congressman in Saranggani if I'm not mistaken. Just this once, the song Stick to the Status Quo [of HSM] seems to be the soundest advice for him. Personally, this move translates into something like "Hey, I'm filthy rich, I'm so damn popular, I can minimize the traffic every once in a while, and I got connections, why not run?".

It is pretty much established that Philippine Politics became the playground of the elites, the popular, and the rich nuisance. And a lot of times, these people can make a damn big mess as they're also humans. But the thing is, if something so pure of an intention [as they say Pacquiao's is] backed up with people with questionable reputation such as that dude who's name sounds like 'hooked up' in the native language and that lady with that freaking scary mole on the face, what do you think will happen? And oh, don't forget that friggin Hawaiian shirt dude! Despite the 'advice kuno' that he gave to Pacquiao on not to run...who are you fooling again?

Let's just call him a politician's accessory. Forget about the glory he brought to this country, the fame he managed to achieve, and not to mention, the money he generated and gave to charity. He's used inevitable and I'm not even sure if he's aware of it. And if he does, he probably enjoys whatever benefit it has given him so far. It is just irritating to hear some random people being interviewed on TV saying they'll support this non sense only because they believe that this guy can give a lot... Like, up to what extent? Wake the freakin hell up or I'll smack you on the face!

It is a circus as it is. Why add gas to the fire? It sounds as dumb as the catch phrase "metro gwapo" and a freaking city painted in pink. For president? Puh-leez! And what's with the well publicized marraige proposal? Are you kidding me with your trike ride? By the way, that's the worst and stupidest televised campaign I've ever watched... Talk about hideous...

While browsing at Carlos Celdran's Facebook account, I came across with this video one of his contacts posted. All of a sudden, a certain flashback came into mind, when Carlos himself toured us around San Agustin Church wherein he narrated the history of then Queen of the Pacific, no other than Manila.

This is a fascinating clip to watch as it showcases Manila back in late 1930's, or, if my memory serves me right, the Golden Age of Manila just like Carlos said. As we went along with the tour, I can't help but to feel a sense of pride but a great deal of grief and long sighs. Questions of "what if" and "what could have been" were mind boggling plus the big question "what went wrong?". Well, I'll just leave those questions to you and enjoy the video...

I posted before an article about Asia's first supermodel [Anna Bayle] which happens to be a Pinay. Then, just recently, I saw Charo Ronquillo in Pacquiao's Pinoy Records show in GMA [I can't believe I actually typed in the name of the show]. Upon hearing the word 'supermodel' on the commercial plug, I instantly got the urge to watch it.

Season 2 finally ended and I thought it was pretty average. I'm not a hundred percent happy with the Finale episode but I'm cool with it. At least my early bet won this one. Branden! Jonathan, on the other hand, grew on me so I would have been happier if he won. His story and personality is more endearing compared to Branden and Sandhurst combined. Gosh, Jon's baby is so cute and his wife is so pretty...

I was doing a random search just to get some SuperBrie cheese through my MouseHunt toolbar and I came across some articles and pictures of Nicole Trunfio [current model mentor in Make Me a Supermodel Season 2]. Just a bit surprised to know that this Aussie model is only 23 y/o and labeled a supermodel. Getting accustomed with older judges/mentor in ANTM, no wonder that it came to me as a surprise that she's just 23 and almost my age.

In her Wikipedia site, it says there that she was also from a TV series Search for a Supermodel [and won it]. Now that's a show with credibility, right Tyra? She also appeared in some major ad campaigns for D&G, Karl Lagerfeld, Lacoste, and Guess to name a few. Mentoring the lady contestants of this season's MMaS sure makes her more of a household name. Apparently, one of the guys of MMaS has a super crush on her [Branden]... In two words, Super Hot!

Americas Next Top Model S12E13 -- Nope, Not Yet

I'd like to borrow HenryEvil's latest blog post title for this FINALE review on ANTM 12. For me, it says it all. Nope, I haven't had my fave contender win the title yet [after Danielle's win that is]. But I think it is quite obvious who the real winner is...

It is a bitter sweet ending for this season as Allison Harvard took the second place leaving Teyona as the winner. Who damn cares right?! At least I can breathe now and know for sure that my girl Allison would rock the industry hardcore. Which winner of ANTM's history has gone that far anyway?

Here are the CG photos of the final three:
Aminat -- oddly, I immediately thought of Elizabeth Ramsey...hmmm...why...

Allison -- She can be a commercial model too! This photo slightly reminds me of Jenna of Cycle 9.

While I was watching the final two, from the runway [by far not the best one I saw but amazing never the less] to the judges' deliberations, when I thought that it would be an abvious Teyona win, my gosh, Allison really did bring her stuff on the table! I was like, wait, Allison might win this!!! And so she didn't but I'm sure she made us more than proud because just like what Paulina said, she had the further transformation between the two. And that for me is more than satisfying enough. You don't have to win gurl! Anyhow, congratulations Teyona for winning this thing and hoping that you'll make it big yourself [probably not in commercials though]. By the way, what a terrible choice of wardrobe on that final announcement... Swimsuits? Really?

Surprisingly, I don't feel all that bad despite Teyona's win. I guess it was just a long accepted thing that it didn't surprised me at all. At least I can say with all honesty that she's way better than Saleisha... UGH! And I almost forgot to mention, what a terrible wig/extension from the runway to judging... She should be named the girl who always looses her hair in public.

ANTM E! True Hollywood Story -- Dishin' it All Out Ya'll

ANTM -- as real as it could possibly get. Nice to hear from some of past contestants and winners from the show, regardless on what they say [may it be positive or negative]. The struggles on both the girls and of the production staff were unveiled. So much to see, too little time... First 5 Cycles were jammed into it plus some extra minutes to spare on the next 5 Cycles... Enjoy!

And the things that I learned from watching this:
1. That people shouldn't hate on Adrianne because she's just keeping it real on her part.
2. Elyse is still my all time favorite ANTM girl.
3. Ebony [C1] is very entertaining...
4. Naima was slightly arrogant of her win but completely understandable.
5. Lisa cracked me up with this line... "I'm trying to be myself right now...And who were you yesterday?"

America's Next Top Model S12E06 -- the great DIVIDE

As expected, after last week's panel, the girls had their choice on what side they'll go with: on Tahlia's or on Celia's. In this case, you can see who's mature and who's not. People like Natalie and Allison were just dragged into the argument. It began with Sandra telling to Tahlia's side that "hey, I kindda heard them talking bout bringing it up to the judges but didn't know that they'll actually do it" then enraged Teyona and Aminat decided that "let's just give it to them" sort of dialouge. These two girls [Teyona and Aminat] confronted Celia's group saying stuff [lots of stuff] generallizing the whole group as the culprit of the whole Celia confession scenario. In my opinion it is kindda unfair for Allison to be the first target of the verbal attack. Guess what, Celia and Tahlia weren't even talking that time... Next thing I know Natalie got involved, and the two girls in the issue was standing side by side saying nothing at all. Aminat came face to face with Natalie and called her stupid repeatedly... Just like Nat said, it's super disrespectful...

Anyway, enough of the drama. This week's challenge was to convey emotion to their faces. Mr. Jay and model Beth Stern administered the sort of lame-O challenge [the girls would have to stick their faces into these life size pictures of Tyra with a hole on the face part and do some facial expressions]. More than 2/3 of the girls just didn't get it and to cut it short the winner was Natalie. As a prize she got 50 extra frames on their photo shoot.

I also think that this photo shoot's theme is also kindda lame but surprisingly nice results. Beauty shot ladies and gentlemen. FINALLY! Again, these are my top three photos of the week:

Allison -- despite the lack of true facial expression, this photo is insanely great [at least for my taste] plus pink looks great on her

Celia -- grey is definitely her color

Teyona -- something bout her face that I like... but the drama in the house made me dislike her a bit

The panel's best photo was Fo's but I super hate the styling on her. And she got Red, she could have done more than just raising the eyebrow thing... You know what's better? This:

I think Tahlia's photo was also good but not on my top three dear. I like her renewed strength and the competition. At least she'll stop casting so much drama in the house [I think] and I also admire the gesture on talking with Celia the matured way.
I feel sorry for London because of the terrible make-up done on her in the photo shoot. As if she puked blue all over.

ALAS, the b*tch has left the building! Sandra went packing because of her less than impressive photo as the color White... Buh-bye Sandy!

Make Me a Supermodel S02E04 -- now you're talking

I've been watching both ANTM and MMaS and obviously I'm more into ANTM [despite the ridiculous editing]. On the other hand, MMaS, after three not so good episodes finally it wowed me for the first time this season.

First of all, one of the major change in the format of the show is that they don't have online voting anymore. This season's opening credits is way better than the previous one... By far, the guys are not as entertaining as season one's but boy do they make strong working super male models.

Episode 04 was last week and as usual, they started with the photo shoot.This one I think is the best theme so far... Push your emotion through the mirror... [Just a recap: EP01 -- sleep wear while in a glass box suspended in the air; EP02 -- human candies (hmmm...sounds familiar); EP03 -- flying jocks]... These were my last week's top three photos.

Branden -- the leading male contenderJonathan -- somewhat David Beckham-ish looks... supermodel materialAmanda -- best picture of the week that's why Jordan [which is a female] hates her

The winners for that week's photo shoot had the chance to actually walk for certain designers on the last Montreal Fashion Week which was the biggest goo-see prize they gave (every photo shoot, they name who did the best and as the prize, they give them the chance to do real go-sees and do real job). Branden was chosen the best from the guys and chose Collin to be with him and Amanda was chosen from the girls ans chose Mountaha to be with.

Then after all the fashion week ordeal, finally they had the runway challenge (which they always do every week) and this week's theme of the runway is FASHION FREAKS which I think is very, very cool... Jonathan had the immunity [just like in project runway] for doing such a great job on the catwalk. So there you go... My first review on this season of Make Me a Supermodel

Philippines tops Earth Hour 2009

MANILA, Philippines--For 60 minutes Saturday night (March 28) , a recorded all-time high of 650 cities switched off its lights for Earth Hour, placing the Philippines as the top participant in the event, an official of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) said.

"More than 15 million Filipinos in 650 major towns and cities from distant islands participated,” according to WWF communications officer Gregg Yan told INQUIRER.net.

Yan said the Philippines also placed first in town and city participation out of the 88 countries among 25 different time zones.

"Ang mga Pilipino talaga di mag papatalo [Filipinos are really very competitive]," Yan joked, "We honestly did not think we'd place first. Natalo pa natin ang [We even defeated] Australia."

Australia is among the proprietor of Earth Hour, launched on March 31, 2007.

This year, Australia placed third with a total of 309 towns and cities.

Greece placed second with 484 participating towns and cities.

It is the second time the country has participated in the Earth Hour event and Yan attributed the success of this year to social networking.

"Last year when we did Earth Hour during your video interview, we were still preparing. We only had two weeks to prepare whereas this year we had three months to prepare. We relied heavily on social networking--for us it was all about spreading the idea via text messages, blog posts, Flickr, Twitter, Multiply, Facebook, Friendster and sending announcements in e-groups. Of course the power of spoken word too and it kind of spread like wildfire," Yan said.

According to initial reports, Yan said that the Philippines alone saved 611 Megawatt-hours, "which is equivalent to shutting down a dozen coal-fired power plants for 60 minutes; and those reports don't include other islands in the Visayas."

Electric grid figures report that 386 Megawatt-hours were saved in Luzon, 150 Megawatt-hours in Mindanao and 75 Megawatt-hours in Visayas.

"Earth Hour really wasn't a hard idea to sell because you don't have to shell out money for it, we got the word across and people participated in this global call to unite, call on world leaders for action right now," Yan said.

Yan said that WWF hopes that the country’s participation in Earth Hour last week would not end.

"Earth Hour did not end last Saturday night at 9:30 pm. What we hope to have done for the Philippines together with our partners Department of Energy (DoE), Green Army Network and Switch Movement, we hope to have ushered in a new dawn for the Philippines which people realize that being eco-conscious is not only tantamount to securing our resources but it is also tantamount to saving a lot of money," Yan added.

Yan also cited that the Philippines' participation shows the peoples’ unity for the world to take action in Copenhagen.

"This is a vote made by the Philippines for the earth because we showed our unity for the world to take action in Copenhagen in 2009 where they will draft a post-Kyoto policy where they will set new targets for developed and developing nations to reduce carbon emission," said Yan.

Earth Hour will continue to be an annual event held every last Saturday of March.

"Earth Hour will continue until we secure decisions that need to be secured -- decisions by world leaders at Copenhagen that progressive attitudes must be taken to ensure that least carbon impact and least environmental impact will be acted on. If you think about it, this problem is bigger than the war on politics because this is an all-encompassing threat," Yan said.

Yan said the goal for global WWF was to secure one billion people in over 1,000 cities.

"As of right now, we secured 3,943, which is nearly four times more than what we envisioned globally," he said.

America's Next Top Model S12E05 -- where's my cheesecake?

This episode is an interesting one... Hmmm... Let's see now...
Miss F-A-B-O, fabulous Toccara dropped by to throw in a slumber party with the girls. It's like she's one of the girls again so that was nice.

Then the day after, they had some posing lessons with Benny Ninja and former model turned DJ Sky Nellor. She reminds me of Isabel Preysler [Enrique Iglesias' mom] but on the funkier side... The challenge was to put into pose a certain music. Practically, more than half sucked on it.

Just like any other challenges, they had an output test which turned out to be a model pose off. I thought Allison looked pretty cute on that stage. Tahlia is her usual low energy self, though I like the blond hair on her for some weird reason. Natalie and Celia stood out but ulitmately, Celia outshined the others and won the challenge.

I really, really like this week's photoshoot. The theme was the old Ellis Island imigrants. I don't know how they came up with it but it was a nice concept. I've had enough dose of the "benny ninja cough syrup" for today. Guess what, he's there on the photo too...

The whole "I don't wanna be here anymore" drama with Tahlia went a little too long from the house, to the photoshoot, til the panel... UGH! Exhausting! She ended up with the best photo and was like, oh yeah, thanks! Celia had this surprising "may I speak up" scene about Tahlia after the eliminated girl was revealed [which was Kortnie]. I hate to admit but yeah, just like Tyra said, it is unfair that she's the one speaking up for Tahlia and not Tahlia herself. DRAMA... I can hear Janice saying that...

So these are my top three for the week.
So far Teyona and Allison [despite her bottom two picture last week] are the ones that sort of consistent to be on top or almost there...

Allison -- is she one of the kids?

Teyona -- probably the most believable story wise...

Tahlia -- despite the drama, drama, drama at least she put that into good use this week...

America's Next Top Model S12E04 -- the Girls of Manhattan

I don't like this episode that much only because my girl Allison almost had the cut but WHEW am I glad that she didn't. It was almost like it turned 180, as in flipped in terms of performances. "Like WHAT?! Sandra had the best photo? WHAT?! Freaking creepy chan didn't deliver? WHAT?! Aminat had a rocking photo this week?!" Like...WTF?!

This week's a runway challenge. As usual, miss Jay guided the girls on their flaws and strengths on their walks. Cycle 9 girls Chantal and Bianca was there and showed the girls the "runway etiquette". They walked for Jill Stuart in her Spring collection. Boo hoo, "miss model from head to toe" Natalie won the challenge. Who cares right?

Hmmm...I kindda like this week's photoshoot, despite my bets flunk-a-doodle performances. These are my top three photos:
Aminat and Fo
-- as a pair, these girls made it happen... I love Fo's expression and body language and Aminat was serving it like a true model... This photo of Aminat reminds me of Dani in the CoverGirl eyewear campaign...
Natalie, Teyona and Tahlia
-- good for Tahlia that she finally looks genuinely happy in a photo. Believable for a tourist in Time Square scene. I also like Teyona here! Never mind the other one.

Sandra and Celia
-- the photo would not have read "nanny" if not of the baby stroller but yeah, this one's kindda sortta nice...I think. Sandra's pose, as the judges said, is the most fashiony one but does it say "nanny" hell NO! But I like the blonde hair on her...

Sad to say, no Allison on my top three but oh well, as long as she's there she'll always be my bet... In my opinion, it should have been Nijah and Kortnie in the bottom two. Nijah took the worst photo [like duh?!] and Kortnie was just not remarkable at all to me... In the end, Nijah went home... 10 girls remain, who will be eliminated next?!

Arrests After Melee at TV Casting Call

It was America’s next top melee.

An open casting call for the reality television program “America’s Next Top Model” turned into mayhem on Saturday afternoon in Midtown Manhattan. Fights broke out, three people were arrested and at least six others suffered minor injuries after they were pushed down in a crush of thousands of aspiring models waiting in line to be discovered.

The police did not say what caused the disturbance outside the audition site at the Park Central Hotel, at 210 West 55th Street, but would-be contestants for the 13th season of the popular program blamed a lack of organization, frayed nerves and a brief panic that erupted when someone screamed that a smoking overheated car was on fire and about to explode.

“Everyone got thrown everywhere,” said Annina Manttari, 23, of Hackensack, N.J. “People were getting run over.”

Two women and one man were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and inciting to riot, but the police did not say whether they were there to audition or were with a would-be contestant. They were identified as Michael Edwards, 24; Vanessa Quinones, 20; and Clem Clemmons, 40.

The Fire Department said two people were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center with minor injures, and that four others refused medical attention.

The CW network, which broadcasts “America’s Next Top Model,” said it was “working and cooperating with local authorities.” Representatives for the supermodel Tyra Banks, the program’s host and executive producer, did not return messages Saturday night.

Women began lining up outside the Park Central on Friday night, and thousands more arrived the next morning, waiting in stiletto heels and short skirts in a line that stretched down 55th Street and up both Broadway and Seventh Avenue. Some brought their mothers or boyfriends; others carried portfolio books and business cards.

Many said they were there because, for the first time, the program would be open only to women 5-foot-7 and shorter, who had been unable to audition for previous seasons and said they often lost work to taller, more willowy models.

Contestant hopefuls said the lines were poorly coordinated, and no one knew what to do or when they would be seen. With little to eat and no way to use the bathroom without losing a spot in line, tempers flared.

“People were pushing, screaming, yelling at each other,” said Lauren Musacchio, 21, of Manhattan. “It was chaos.”

By 6 p.m. Saturday, West 55th Street was littered with the wreckage of the day: torn sleeping bags where aspiring contestants had spent the night, police barricades, shoes and clothes in the gutter. More than a hundred women still waited on the sidewalk, hoping to get into the Park Central.

But a half-hour later, the police told the women that the auditions had been canceled, that the producers were gone and that the women should go home.

Many of the women, who had traveled from as far away as California, were armed with glossy headshots and gauzy dreams of being the one face picked from a crowd of thousands, and the worst part of the day was not getting pushed or knocked over, but missing their shot at the spotlight.

“This was a huge dream of mine,” said Rebecca Albora, 21, of Saddle Brook, N.J. “I lost my dream. I lost my chance.”

America's Next Top Model S12E01E02 -- Make Way for the Goddesses

Oh boy was that a tough one to download... Anyway, I just watched the premiere 2-hour episode and find it...a little too safe and bland[cycle 13 is pretty much a little too unsafe for the "petite" models competition -- just in case you haven't heard yet]. The girls were dressed up as goddesses in Vegas and came in the "goddess of fierce" herself, Tyra Banks. The usual selection of the final 13 was done and nothing so special what so ever in the process except maybe Allison's "wanna have a nose bleed" moment with Tyra. Kindda stupid that Tyra gave these spoilers on her talk show showing clips from the premiere episode. Didn't helped on the excitement part...

After these lucky 13 girls were chosen, they went to Empire State Building to meet Nigel Barker and Paulina Porizkova. Yep, New York baby! Key handed over, they went to their fab New York home. I hate it when they purposely put 1 bed short in the house cause obviously it's an instant friction maker between the girls. Round 2 for miss Sandra as she once again clashed with another girl which is Celia [the first one was with Angelea in casting] for the right of a bed...

For their first challenge, the girls were sent to a fashion show for the Abaete designer, Laura Poretzky. It was less tragic than the previous cycles except for Sandra's disappointing performance on the runway walking only half way through it. Then on their photoshoot, they portrayed childhood games with the Central Park as the backdrop. Nice but not strong fashion shoot. It's more commercial than I thought it would be. My top picks for this one are:

Wow! Can't believe I'm saying this but I think Allison's my bet. Not only because she has the best photo for the week, but I think she's a natural. I dunno, I can be wrong but yeah, I like her. Not so creepy after all.

ANTM 12's first casualty is Isabella. I think that she's a super nice girl but as far as the competition goes, that's about it...

LOS ANGELES - Harry has a final date with film destiny: Warner Bros. will open the eighth film in its Potter franchise -- "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part II" -- on July 15, 2011.

"Deathly Hollows: Part I" is set to unspool November 19, 2010. The studio decided to split the seventh and final book in the Potter series into two movies because of the tome's length.

On Wednesday Warners also announced that is has postponed the release of its holiday feature "Sherlock Holmes" to December 25 from November 1.

Fingers crossed, hopefully there won't be any changes...again! So as the article says the 7th book of Harry Potter was split into two parts because of it's length. It's about time that the movie will give justice to its book counterpart

Applause to the winners! I have yet to watch Slumdog Millionaire [won the Best Picture] and The Reader [Kate Winslet won the Best Actress award] but one of these days I'll hunt 'em down the net... Never the less congratulations to both of them. I already watched "Milk" which is also a really, really great movie starring Sean Penn who won the Best Actor award. I really love the movie I don't know why [charing!]... I also watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button [bagged the Visual Effects, Make-up and Art Direction Award] of Brad Pitt and also loved it [as in super]... Then recently I watched Rachel Getting Married and love, love, love Anne Hathaway there [for the role of a drug addict...damn she's good] whom got nominations... And of course, the favorite Joker of 'em all [portrayal is beyond amazing] played by the late Heath Ledger, won as the Best Supporting Actor. Bunch of great movies to watch, can't wait to see 'em all!

Just got to let it out of my chest... UGH!!! Like seriously their "fellowship" just ain't for me. I appreciate loud noises once in a while but every week, oh boy do we have some problem. Don't want to be rude or anything, it's just that...wow...super annoying...

This charismatic fellowship, or whatever they call themselves, has been going on for some months now. At first I was like, "o ano meron?". Turned out that this eventually became a regular thing [even at Saturdays] and it's getting into people's nerves [or at least to mine]. They sing early in the morning [BTW, they do their regular meeting at my old school in front of our house] all through afternoon. Crazy part is that, one song lasts for like more than half an hour. Can someone please tell me, is this a normal behavior? I don't want to be the "KJ" person here or the kontra bida but hello?! PEOPLE, have you noticed that you're doing it in an open space?!?! Not to mention, the surrounding environment is a residential area. Aren't there supposed to be rules about loud noises or gatherings like this? Seriously, they should consider having one of those right here, right now... UGH!!! They're not even good singers!

The other day, Shandi accepted my friend request on Facebook... Guess who I got today... hehe! BRONNIE~~as in Ben Dichiara and RonnieKroell of Make Me a Supermodel. I was making this post earlier about the premiere of ANTM and MMaS on March 4 and I was like, wow, it was quite sometime since I googled my fave MMaS cast... I completely disagree... She was named as the girl who had the biggest and most transformation out of any other ANTM alum and I'd just like to commend her for being who she is regardless of what other people would say...

Shandi Sullivan of Cycle 2 is no doubt one of my top fave contestants ever mainly because of her looks and the person that she is. The look that we saw on the show is basically the best look of her as a model in the show's perspective. And now, her short hair, tattoos and funky style is the best reflection on who she really is and in my opinion, the most beautiful thing in the world: being true to oneself.
